Crumbl Tuscaloosa Yelp TikTok Drama

On Friday, May 30th, 2025 Crumbl had a grand opening in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This is the home of the University of Alabama, which should be a great place for a brand new Crumbl Cookies location, right? Not so much. Since the Grand Opening on Friday, in three (3) short days, there are over 75 reviews on Yelp with an average rating of 1.2 (out of 5) stars. Here are some of the reviews:

  • I’m sure getting a crumbl in town is great, I’ve seen the hype. I love visiting new businesses on their grand opening…., but I personally would invest in a small business to the insomnia near by. I try to never give one stars but this location has really disappointed me. They do not care about community or connection, it’s just about money for them. As someone who visits so many places and states, this is one I’ll never return to.
  • Don’t bother giving this place your business. The owner is a terrible person suing a local small business owner who was just trying to welcome them into town with a collab that they AGREED to. The story is just awful. You can imagine the type of service you’ll get with someone running their store like this. Shameful.
  • Oh Vanessa, it’s so sad to see a new business owner be so arrogant and ugly. It will take you much longer than your business can last to overcome the negative impression you have now left on a small community. Pretty sure you already regret your decision, but if this is how you treat other business owners, I can only imagine how you treat your employees. Shame on you. Bullies never win.
  • Wouldn’t give a dime to this franchise. Their owners Vanessa and Christopher are completely rude and disrespectful to other business owners in the area.
  • Terrible experience at this location specifically. I’ll never be back and may never purchase from Crumbl again. DO NOT COME HERE.
  • Really shows you that the little mom and pop stores who try and be friendly and welcoming to a big companies and franchises get bullied. This owner should be utterly ashamed and embarrassed of how unkind and unprofessional she is. Hope this lady gets the karma she deserves.
  • Management treats employees and customers terribly. Don’t support business who don’t support your community.
  • Really disappointed in the owners of this franchise. So rude. The cookies aren’t worth the price and the owners should be ashamed.
  • Here from the Tiktok video where the franchise owner threatened to sue a small business.
  • Overpriced. Overrated. I’d rather have a tall glass of milk and a box of Oreos or some ooey gooey butter bars from Walmart. Vanessa you owe Morgan Harris an apology. Shame on you!
  • If Crumble was a movie character it would be Regina George bc I felt personally victimized by them. The staff was really rude and standoffish, which I’d almost be willing to put up with for a good cookie, but the one I got tasted like stale Famous Amos. To anybody who wants to support a small business with better tasting cookies and better vibes, Chip is right down the street. Thank me later!
  • Owners are super toxic bullies. Such a shame because the cookies are good. The environment is completely ruined because of the attitude of the owners, and unless they give a genuine apology they will not be successful. So sad because I love Crumbl in general, but this place is awful.
  • Wish you could leave NO stars! By far the worst crumble franchise. The owner/ owners wife is a real witch who tries to tear down other small business in the area. Don’t waste your time at this establishment, your better off going to chip cookie in midtown
  • The owners wife is a bully. I would not recommend this franchise. They should apologize.
  • As a new business owner, you should be welcoming to the locals, not threaten to sue them. What a nasty attitude this owner has! I wouldn’t spend a penny at this franchise. Small business is always better!
  • We went on opening day regretfully and it wasn’t that good. Then I seen the lady crying on tik tok because the owner is a bully. Won’t ever got back and I hope they get run out of business soon. But, there is a good point to all this, I finally decided to get my lashes done to support people who do good for others. Maybe they should learn a thing or two about how to run a business.
  • Worst ever. Wish I could give zero stars. The owners are horrible people with no regard for their community.
  • The owners of this Crumble are BULLIES that are threatening to sue a small local salon in town. Recommend spending money at small locally owned bakeries in the area.
  • WOW just WOW…imagine going to a business to purchase their main product and dealing with an extremely rude, condescending, arrogant person…well welcome to crumbl. I mean it’s bad enough their over priced cookies are just pounds of sugar lumped together with horrible quality but now you have rude management and franchise owner threatening neighbors.
  • I don’t spend my money at places where the owners are sue happy, and threatening to small business owners in their city. This tells me everything I need to know about them.
  • The owners Vanessa Arias & husband are not decent people.Lashing out at other local businesses .Shouting and threatening law suits when people are trying to be welcoming is beyond the pale.Allegedly.Won’t support that.
The cookies are not worth all the calories and palm oils. They aren’t good cookies. Not supporting all that .
  • U should treat other business owners w respect. #supportChaseBeautyLounge. U should treat other business owners w respect. #supportChaseBeautyLounge. U should treat other business owners w respect. #supportChaseBeautyLounge. U should treat other business owners w respect. #supportChaseBeautyLounge.
  • Owner berated a local small business owner and threatened legal action. Crumbl may be delicious but I won’t support someone who is so belligerent to others–especially others in the community.
  • Terrible service. The owner is very rude. Do not waste your money. Go to somewhere local!
  • Awful management. They are not welcoming to other businesses in the area and have already caused issues after being open 1 day
  • HORRIFIC ATTITUDE from owners Vanessa & Chris! We were planning to order 2 dozen for a small event but decided after hearing the horrific ordeal a small business owner had with them TRYING TO WELCOME THEM. Sick, entitled owners who allegedly verbally threatened another salon business for simply GIVING GIFT CARDS to her salon to the business to share to customers…. I haven’t been to a salon in 2 years. That would’ve been such a special giveaway to new customers but no. We will absolutely never support this business. She was also too pathetic to make a formal apology!
  • Never been here but I know the owners are terrible fxcking people ! Don’t support this place.
  • Cookies are great but the owner has terrible customer service. I wouldn’t ever go here again.
  • Terrible service, terrible owners, terrible cookies. Don’t waste a cent here. Their management is apparently full of liars as well.
  • Gross owners. The families in the area can find better cookies somewhere else….would be better in the long run for the community.
  • dirty location don’t go here. cookies are nasty and stale and old . do not go here horrible
  • I was disappointed to hear about the franchise owners behavior, as I was actually driving there. I didn’t bother going in. These owners need better training with Crumbl and hope that the threats they made towards other businesses comes as a note against their contract.
  • Never, ever support a business that doesn’t support their other local businesses. Never, ever support a business with rude owners. And buy your cookies from a REAL bakery. Crumbl uses boxed cake mix and loads of shortening. Ugh.
  • Owner is rude. I would not recommend supporting this location in Tuscaloosa. Cookies are not good.
  • Why do you need 85 characters to complain about a business … one star for terrible terrible customer service
  • Terrible ownership… crazy situation such a bummer to see. Go someplace else!!! They don’t deserve a dime
  • I unfortunately found several hairs in my cookie and the lady was making cookies not wearing gloves.
  • When I went in and was trying to make short conversation, the hostess or cashier was very rude. When I asked for the specials, she told me to look at the menu. I asked for a manager, and they told me to take a seat where I was waiting for at least 25 minutes. Do not come to Crumbl cookie. The managers are very, very rude.

Here is the TikTok video that caused all the drama:

The TikTok video is very long, but here is the basic point: The woman has owned a small lash business for eight (8) years. She has four (4) technicians and is very small. She purchased 100 gift cards for $10 to give to Crumbl Tuscaloosa to hand out to customers or employees during the Grand Opening. The owner of the lash business communicated with a manager at Crumbl and they agreed to pass out the gift cards. A technician dropped the gift cards off during the very busy Grand Opening and there was a miscommunication. The franchise owner clearly thought the lash business was trying to steal customers so she felt the need to call and threaten legal action on the lash business owner. The lash business owner is distraught and worried about legal action.

Note that there are only a handful of Yelp reviews from reviewers actually in Tuscaloosa or Alabama. Most of the reviewers are TikTokers that don’t live within an hours drive of the Crumbl Tuscaloosa store. They are simply defending the owner of the lash business (Morgan Harris TikTok: littlemissevarose).

All of this drama started with a TikTok video in which another small business owner in Tuscaloosa tried to collab or partner with Crumbl Tuscaloosa and things went very sideways. I guess it is safe to say that this collab didn’t go quite as well as the Kardashian and Jenner Crumbl Collab.

What is very interesting is TikTokers went to Yelp to leave over 75 scathing reviews, but on Google there are 11 total reviews with an average rating of 4.9 stars. If TikTokers truly want to hurt them the most, they would leave negative Google Reviews. No one is going to Yelp to look at Crumbl reviews. Yelp is used for fine dining, sit down restaurants in populated areas, not cookie stores in college towns.

In an even deeper dive, it seems as if it took FOUR YEARS for the owners of Crumbl Tuscaloosa to finally get the doors open. You can read more about their story here.

UPDATE: Crumbl Corporate reached out to and she is pleased with their response. The response of the franchise owner, well that’s another story. You can watch her response here:
