Some information about the viral Dot Cake:

Created by a mother-daughter duo, The Dot Cakes operates out of Roslyn, New York. They supply their signature “Dotcups” to upscale grocers like Butterfield Market in Manhattan, where they frequently sell out in under an hour.

Dot cakes are named for the spherical sprinkles — often called nonpareils — that coat the exterior of each cake, obscuring any evidence of frosting or sponge. The Dotcakes uses this sprinkle-coated technique to decorate all of its cakes, even writing words on them with carefully arranged nonpareils, but its Dotcups are the dessert that’s really taken over the internet. These are single-serving cups of sponge cake — available in flavors like classic white, chocolate, red velvet, vanilla chip, or funfetti — topped with a layer of frosting and coated in sprinkles.
