We’ve all heard about the $20 minimum wage increase for fast food workers in the state of California. Well, Crumbl Cookies locations have found a loophole. Note that Crumbl locations are all franchise owned but corporate has the decision to dictate what products and items are sold; such as water, milk or other beverages. This was explained by a California Crumbl manager on Reddit: “This is an explanation. Some of you guys might notice that California stores don’t sell water or milk anymore. I think y’all should know why. If you’re familiar with the $20 fast food raise, you know that serving food and beverage makes you eligible. Well, corporate didn’t want to pay their employees that, so they found a loophole and took away the drinks. Now an entry level position at dominos, chipotle, AND EVEN MENCHIES make more than a manager do at crumbl. Just wanted to make everyone aware what’s going on and why so many California stores are on strike or walking out lately. there’s more to it but that’s the jist.”
Also….”Yep, that’s why a bunch of people at my store quit. For MONTHS, management was like “don’t worry y’all! We’re getting the raise!!!” And then we just didn’t. Found out about the drink loophole and told my team”
We are hearing that many Crumbl stores’ workers are going on strike as of late May and early June 2024.
