There have been a number of Crumbl Crew members that have reported the new recipes for cookies for the week of May 25-30, 2026 have less ingredients leading to smaller sizes. Ingredient descriptions for the recipes are showing up to a 20% decline in size of some of the more popular cookies, including the Cake Batter Cookie. There is a new recipe for the classic Chocolate Chip Cookie and employees have described this as between a “thin” and “large dessert.” Note that the size is different (smaller) on the new Crumbl Chocolate Chip cookie but the price remains the same.
There are sure to be plenty of “reviews” and complaints online as Crumbl Cookies became popular with online reviews. The sad part of all of this is the fact that Crumbl Corporate is asking customers to reach out to the individual stores in which the cookies are purchased. The stores simply follow the guidelines of the recipes and are fined if these guidelines are not followed. So, in essence, Crumbl Corporate is telling franchise partners to reduce ingredients and cookie size. When a customer complains to Crumbl Corporate, corporate then asks the customer to take it up at the store level. Sounds fun for employees, right?
Below is a photo circulating in which the Crumbl official Facebook page responded by saying “Oh no! If you have any issues with size or quality of your desserts, please reach out to the store where you purchased them!” For those wondering, the calories for the reduced size Cake Batter Cookie has gone from 830 calories to 670 calories.

It will be very interesting to see the response of Crumbl Cookies customers at the end of May and early part of June 2026. Crumbl individual location sales are already at their worst in company history since nationwide expansion so they are already walking on thin ice when it comes to their customers. Is shrinkflation the final nail in the coffin for Crumbl?
They are also attempting to keep the spoilers and next weeks flavors secret to build a “fear of missing out” (FOMO) mindset to customers. While this was certainly the case in 2021 when everyone had a COVID check to spend, it is likely not the case in mid 2026, but we will see.
Sawyer Hemsley’s response:
“BETTER BAKE PROGRAM 👨🏻🍳🍪
Just wanted to jump on because I’m seeing a lot of misinformation being passed around. Crumbl is always testing, learning and refining our products to create the best possible dessert experience for our customers. Every cookie base and flavor profile bakes differently, spreads differently and may require slight adjustments to achieve the ideal final product. This can be even more noticeable across different geographical areas and climates throughout the USA and Canada.
Recently, Cake Batter from our classic menu, underwent a very slight size adjustment as part of testing tied to our Better Bake program. This initiative is focused on improving consistency, texture, caramelization and overall quality across all locations.
These refinements are not about “cutting corners.” They’re about improving bake quality and delivering a better tasting final product. As we continue to innovate and improve, there may occasionally be small adjustments made to certain desserts where our menu development and operations teams believe it enhances the overall experience.
Also seeing some comments around “recipe changes”.. this has mainly been referring to slight size testing tied to bake consistency, not broad recipe overhauls across our menu.
Hope this helps provide some clarity! We appreciate the passion, feedback and support from this community! 🫶🏼”
