When Did Crumbl Cookies Start Rotating Flavors?

On September 25th, 2017 Crumbl Cookies opened its first location in Logan, Utah (home to Utah State University). Crumbl did not start rotating flavors until June 11th, 2018 after they spent a semester with the MBA students coming up with ideas to increase virality on social media. The co-creators of Crumbl Cookies (Jason McGowan (CEO) & Sawyer Hemsley (COO)) are graduates of Utah State University.

The first week of rotating flavors included five (5) flavors, not the six (6) we see today. The first week’s flavors were:

  • NUTELLA SEA SALT
  • OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP
  • REESE’S CHIP
  • MILK CHOCOLATE CHIP
  • CHILLED SUGAR

There have been 26 weeks with a variation of Nutella which includes Nutella Mudslide, Peanut Butter Nutella and Nutella Sea Salt. There have been 21 weeks of a variation of Oatmeal which includes Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Muffin, Classic Oatmeal, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Iced Oatmeal, Oatmeal Raisin, and Oatmeal Trail Mix. Reese flavors have made 28 appearances including Peanut Butter featuring Reese’s Pieces, Reese’s Chip, Reese’s Pieces, and Reese’s Cup.

Milk Chocolate Chip and Chilled Sugar have been a mainstay since the beginning. Every week there is a variation of Chilled Sugar and Milk Chocolate Chip.

The second week’s flavors were:

  • S’MORES
  • ORANGE CREAMSICLE
  • STRAWBERRY LEMONADE
  • MILK CHOCOLATE CHIP
  • CHILLED SUGAR

We have seen S’mores flavors 19 times which include S’mores and S’mores Brownie. Orange Creamsicle has only made three (3) total appearances and Strawberry Lemonade only made its single appearance in week 2 of rotating flavors.

Crumbl tested six (6) rotating flavors on the week of October 1-6, 2018 and decided to permanently switch on the week of December 3-8, 2018.
