Beginning the week of May 25-30, 2026 Crumbl locations nationwide will be rolling out a brand new recipe for the classic Chocolate Chip Cookie. The new recipe calls for less ingredients meaning the cookie will be smaller. Crumbl Crew employees have reported the new Crumbl Chocolate Chip Cookie is between a “cookie thin” and a “large dessert.” This is Crumbl Corporate’s response in creating “calorie conscious” and “approachable” desserts. You, as the customer, can decide for yourself if you truly want to get a small cookie or dessert for the same price.
An example of this shrinkflation is the Cake Batter Cookie. Prior to May 25, 2026 the Cake Batter Cookie had 830 calories. The new “calorie conscious” version of the Cake Batter Cookie is 670 calories. Expect the same with the classic Chocolate Chip Cookie. The classic Chocolate Chip Cookie from Crumbl pre May 25, 2026 had 760 calories. We suspect the newer version will have under 650 calories. It officially clocks in at 550 calories. This is a 210 calorie drop from the original Milk Chocolate Chip cookie. Find the nutrition information below:

There is good news. Some Crumbl Crew members that tested out the new recipe cookie on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026 stated that the new version of the Chocolate Chip cookie is delicious. No matter how good the cookie tastes, it is going to be a tough pill to swallow to pay $6-$7 for a single cookie that is 25% smaller than it was just last week.
Unfortunately, it seems to be the case that corporate America is telling Americans what they want. Crumbl had one of their worst celebrity partnership deals ever with Martha Stewart and the “cookie thins” in November of 2025. The sales were so bad the co-creators decided to give the cookie thins away for free. With less than 48 hours notice to employees, Crumbl announced Free Martha Stewart Cookie Thins for Thursday, November 6th, 2025. This lead to chaos and, ultimately, the loss of many, many diehard Crumbl customers. The diehards did not enjoy the chaos that ensued for both the employees and the customers.
As we head into the summer, it will be very interesting to see if Crumbl Cookies can mend the relationship with customers. It is very hard when you lied to them in November 2025 and then again at the beginning of the year in 2026 when customers were lead to believe the menu would not be changing again. Spoiler; it did.
Sawyer Hemsley’s response:
“BETTER BAKE PROGRAM 👨🏻🍳🍪
Just wanted to jump on because I’m seeing a lot of misinformation being passed around. Crumbl is always testing, learning and refining our products to create the best possible dessert experience for our customers. Every cookie base and flavor profile bakes differently, spreads differently and may require slight adjustments to achieve the ideal final product. This can be even more noticeable across different geographical areas and climates throughout the USA and Canada.
Recently, Cake Batter from our classic menu, underwent a very slight size adjustment as part of testing tied to our Better Bake program. This initiative is focused on improving consistency, texture, caramelization and overall quality across all locations.
These refinements are not about “cutting corners.” They’re about improving bake quality and delivering a better tasting final product. As we continue to innovate and improve, there may occasionally be small adjustments made to certain desserts where our menu development and operations teams believe it enhances the overall experience.
Also seeing some comments around “recipe changes”.. this has mainly been referring to slight size testing tied to bake consistency, not broad recipe overhauls across our menu.
Hope this helps provide some clarity! We appreciate the passion, feedback and support from this community! 🫶🏼”
